A police helicopter circled after a driver fled the scene of a crash in Warminster.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision in Wylye Road at around 10pm yesterday evening (Tuesday, 20 August).
A silver Ford Fiesta impacted a wall, leaving bricks scattered across the pavement.
The vehicle was seen travelling along the road towards in a south-easterly direction towards Lower Marsh Road – when the driver failed to navigate the bend and crashed.
The driver was seen to decamp and flee the scene, and the passenger was taken to Salisbury District Hospital with a suspected head injury.
The National Police Air Service helicopter from Bristol was tasked to assist officers in searching for the suspect.
A man, aged in his 20s and from Warminster, was located and arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving whilst unfit through drugs.
He remains in police custody for questioning this afternoon (Wednesday).
