UPDATE: A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of common assault following a call from a member of the public — he’s currently in custody.
The police helicopter is circling above Melksham this morning (Tuesday).
The National Police Air Service aircraft from Bristol appeared to initially focus on the Church Walk area of the town – but is now expending its search.
The first circle appeared to be over Melksham Cricket Club, the cemetery and Sainsbury’s.
What incident aerial officers are attending is unknown at this early stage, with the helicopter arriving shortly after 8am.
Locals have also reported seeing police vehicles on the ground in the central of town.
The police helicopter is deployed to call kinds of incidents – assisting in searches for wanted criminals and missing people.
