Police are examining a go-kart after a man was seriously hurt in a crash in Swindon.

Pictures show a forensic collision investigator photographing the vehicle in Newcombe Drive at around 7.30am this morning (Monday).

A full-scale probe was launched after the rider of the vehicle, a man, was airlifted to hospital with significant and potentially life-changing head injuries.

The serious road traffic collision on Hawksworth Industrial Estate happened at around 11.15pm on Sunday night (15 September) – reportedly during a car meet.

Both Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance landed at the scene, with the latter flying the casualty to Southampton General Hospital.

Now, specialist officers are investigating what happened – with Newcombe Drive, at the junction with Wedgewood Close, closed in both directions.

Witnesses or anybody with information or dashcam footage are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 quoting log 341 of 15 September. Alternatively, email the team directly on [email protected].
