Police discovered an illegal gathering in Chippenham on Saturday after receiving reports of a group of people ‘carrying crates of beer’.
Officers attended a property in Wood Lane to find five people inside, two women and three men who were aged between 18 and 25.
They told officers that they had gathered together to watch the rugby.
As a result, they were all issued with £200 fines for breaching the coronavirus lockdown laws.
Inspector James Brain, from the Chippenham Area Community Policing Team, said: “The current rules are clear. We are in national lockdown which means you cannot leave your home apart for essential reasons.
“I know that people are missing friends and family and the temptation is there to try to make plans to meet up, but it is against the law.
“Please adhere to the rules and help reduce the spread of Covid-19.”
