A police dog found a ‘drug driver’ who ran from a crash following a pursuit in Wiltshire.
Roads policing officers spotted a vehicle travelling at speed without lights in the Pewsey area overnight but as they attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver made off.
A pursuit of the silver Volkswagen Polo was initiated before the driver lost control and crashed into a road sign.
The male driver decamped and fled the scene. Police dog Conan was called in to carry out a search which successfully located him.
The man was arrested for numerous offences, including driving whilst under the influence of cannabis and cocaine following a positive DrugWipe test.
“Clearly they couldn’t outrun the police in their vehicle or on foot thanks to PD Conan”, a police spokesperson said.
