Police have cordoned off a woodland after a body was discovered in Swindon.
Officers descended on Seven Fields in Penhill in the early hours of today (Thursday).
Wiltshire Police has confirmed that a 52-year-old local man, named Robert, was found deceased following an urgent search for him overnight.
It’s understood a missing person appeal was issued by police on social media, and removed a short time later.
The area, which is said to be known as Snake Hill, has been taped off and there are around six police vehicles in attendance.
Forensic investigation work is also ongoing at the scene.
A force spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a body has been found in the search for missing Swindon man Robert.
“Robert, 52, was reported missing late last night (27/11) from his home in Penhill.
“Sadly, a body was discovered early this morning, and while formal identification has not yet taken place, the family of Robert have been informed of this latest development.
“Our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time. Formal identification will take place in due course.
“A scene has been put in place near Farmer’s Crescent while officers investigate what happened.”
