Police have closed the M4 in Wiltshire as firefighters deal with a car blaze.
Emergency services were called to the hard shoulder between junctions 16 (Swindon) and 17 (Chippenham) at around 5.30pm today (Thursday).
The carriageway is closed westbound in the Grittenham area.
Delays are building for motorists on the approach – with queues back to Junction 16.
The road is expected to reopen shortly, with a lane closure in place past the scene.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Please be aware of road closures currently in place between Junction 16 to 17 on both directions of the M4.
“Emergency services are currently in attendance to deal with a car fire. There are no reported injuries.
“Drivers should seek alternative routes and expect significant delays. Thank you for your patience.”
