Police close busy Swindon route after water main bursts

Police have closed a busy Swindon route after a water main burst.

Thames Water and Swindon Borough Council have been called to the incident in Thamesdown Drive this afternoon (Thursday).

Officers have attended ahead of other agencies and shut the road at the junction with Elstree Way for Ash Brake and Abbey Meads.

In a statement, the force said: “There is a burst water main on Thamesdown Drive at the junction of Ash Brake.

“For those travelling from Turnpike Junction towards West Swindon you will be diverted via Lady Lane.

“Carriageway towards Turnpike Junction from West Swindon is passable with care.

“We are awaiting the arrival of Thames Water and SBC Highways.”
