A road in Swindon is closed as police investigate a serious crash involving a motorcycle.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Ermin Street before 7pm this evening (27 March).

At least ten police vehicles were spotted at the incident alongside several ambulance vehicles.

Locals claim a motorcyclist suffered significant injuries in the crash, but Wiltshire Police has not yet confirmed any details.

It’s not yet clear if any other vehicles were involved.

In a statement, the force advised motorists to avoid the area whilst 999 crews work at the scene.

“Drivers are asked to avoid Ermin Street in Stratton St Margaret, Swindon which has been closed following a road traffic collision”, a spokesperson wrote.

Adding: “Emergency services are currently attending the scene and closures are likely to be in place for some hours.

“Ermin Street is currently closed in both directions from the junction with the White Hart roundabout, the junction with Grange Drive and the Swindon Road Junction.

“Thank you for your patience, we will provide updates as soon as further information is available.”
