A dramatic video shows the moment police officers raided an address and chased a gang across rooftops as they investigated a report of fraud in Cirencester.

Officers from Gloucestershire Constabulary began investigating the Islington gang after discovering an elderly local victim was conned out of thousands of pounds.

A team, part of the force’s Serious and Organised Crime Unit, carried out a warrant at an address in Theberton Street, Islington, during their complex probe in April 2021.

But members of the gang tried to escape through an upstairs window, officers gave chase across the rooftops, eventually catching and arresting them.

Body-worm camera footage shows officers pursuing men on the roofs of buildings – climbing up and down drains and walls.

Four men, who have all since been jailed for conspiring to commit fraud by false representation, preyed on dozens of elderly victims and conned them out of hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Mohammed Rahman, 27, of Leirum Street, Shoriful Islam, 24, of Highbury New Park, Muhammed Hussain, 24, of Collier Street and Muhammed Maarjan, 23, of James Morgan Mews, were jailed on Friday for a combined total of 20 years and eight months.
