Police have removed a stash of ceremonial weapons after a man was found dead.

Officers attended a bungalow in Queen’s Crescent, Chippenham, on Thursday (5 December).

A man, aged in his 70s, was found deceased at the property alongside an array of ceremonial swords, axes and replica firearms.

Wiltshire Police have confirmed are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and his next of kin has been informed.

“Our thoughts are with them at this sad time”, a force spokesperson added.

Officers removed the ceremonial weapons “as a precaution” and are in contact with the man’s family to establish what happens to them next.

Sergeant Jamie Ball said “there was no raid conducted in Queen’s Crescent yesterday”, despite our initial reporting of the incident suggesting there was.

He added: “We attended the property in response to a report regarding a man’s welfare, and sadly he was found deceased inside the property.

“A collection of what is thought to be memorabilia was removed as a precaution to ensure the scene and property were safe, and we are in close contact with the family around these.
