Police in west Wiltshire have today been stopping vehicles in the Westbury area to check that motorists are adhering to the Government’s coronavirus lockdown laws.
Sergeant Harmsworth and PCSO Fish of the local Community Policing Team were conducting the stops in Dilton Marsh High Street and Mane Way.
The operation’s aim was to make sure that motorists were social distancing as required by law.
Police have the power to issue £60 fixed penalty notices to those flouting the lockdown laws.
A force spokesperson said: “A number of drivers were spoken to and asked what the purpose of their journey was. All drivers that were stopped were adhering to government guidelines.
“Thank you to all those continuing to stay local.”
