Two road traffic collisions on Great Western Way caused the main road to be shut in both directions last night between Mannington Roundabout and Blagrove Roundabout for two hours.
The first incident happened at around 6.40pm, and involved a Honda Civic, Volkswagen Polo and a Volkswagen Scirocco. Luckily, no one was serious injuries in the crash.
The second incident happened five minutes later, where a vehicle collided with the back of a police car – thought to be stationary at the time. Again, no injuries were reported.
Three fire engines attended the scene, from Swindon, Westlea and Royal Wootton Bassett, after reports of one casualty trapped in a vehicle – however, on arrival, no one was found to be trapped.
Great Western Way was shut for approximately two hours, reopening at 8.30pm.
