Police attended an address in Swindon this afternoon after concerns were raised about the welfare of two dogs inside.

Neighbours called the force worried that the animals would be able to climb out of an upstairs window that was left open by the occupiers earlier in the day.

The locals had attempted to close the window, on a house in Bright Street, Gorse Hill, themselves but when their efforts failed, police officers were sent to the scene.

Once in attendance, the officers were able to shut the window.

A local resident reported, via Wiltshire 999s Incident Alerts’ Facebook group, that there was a ‘large police presense’ in the area.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called to an address in Bright Street, around 12.25pm, after concerns from neighbours for the welfare of two dogs.

“The concern was that an upstairs window had been left open and the dogs could escape. Officers attended and were able to close the window after attempts to reach the resident proved fruitless.”
