Travellers smashed their way into the grounds of a Chippenham school tonight.

Around ten caravans pitched up on the Hardenhuish School field at around 8pm.

Police officers were called to the scene shortly afterwards and were seen to be having a heated argument with several members of the group.

It’s not clear what, if any, police action was taken against them but it’s understood they left the school ground at around 10pm.

Earlier today, travellers moved on to green space in Tadpole Garden Village, Swindon.
