Police officers were called to the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Swindon this afternoon, following a serious incident involving a shoplifter and security guard.
It happened at around 3pm today, Friday 2 June near the entrance to South Mall.
Wiltshire 999s understands that an alleged shoplifter was chased from one of the stores; the security guard was punched and subsequently suffered a heart attack.
Det Sgt Graham McLaughlin of Swindon CID said: “[Police] officers were called to McArthurGlen Designer Outlet just before 3pm.
“A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft and assault and taken into custody at Gablecross. A security guard was taken to Great Western Hospital where he is receiving treatment.
“We would be grateful to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, including people who may have filmed it on their phones.

The condition of the casualty is unknown at this time.
