Police have arrested a suspect over an arson attack on a B&B in Swindon town centre.
Emergency services rushed to reports of a bedsit on fire within a terraced property in Sheppard Street at around 1.30pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday, 13 April).
The flames were swiftly extinguished by firefighters as Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service sent numerous appliances – including an aerial ladder platform – to the incident.
Wiltshire Police has confirmed that a man, aged in his 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and breaching his bail conditions.
He was remanded into police custody overnight in relation to the bail breach and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning (Friday).
Nobody’s believed to have sustained any injuries in the fire.
