Police and ambulance are attending to a patient who is thought to have taken an overdose this evening.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Manchester Road at around 6.40pm, following reports of a man collapsed in the street.
Understood to be a rough sleeper the man’s friends told police of how he’d been drinking and taking ‘too many’ tablets throughout the day.
Three police cars, an ambulance, a rapid responder and a paramedic officer attend the incident which was resolved by 7.30pm.
The patient was taken to hospital for treatment.
