A woman has been hospitalised after a head-on crash on a road near Swindon.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s critical care medics were among the emergency services called to the serious smash on the B4553 Cricklade Road at around 1.30pm today (Saturday, 15 October).
Wiltshire Police say the collision – located between Purton and Cricklade – involved three vehicles. Though, a silver car and a black Nissan appear to have sustained the most significant damage.
A pair of children’s trainers can be seen on top of the silver car, indicating that a youngster may have been involved in the incident.
However, only one person – a woman – was taken to hospital for treatment. It’s not clear if the injuries she sustained were serious or life-threatening.
The Wiltshire Air Ambulance crew attended the scene in a rapid response car, whilst a critical care doctor from SWIFT Medics also attended in a blue-light car.
Two fire engines, from Westlea and Swindon fire stations, were at the incident alongside two ambulances and police – including a specialist roads policing unit.
Investigation and recovery work was underway from around 2.30pm, with the road reopened by 6pm.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police wrote: “We were called to the junction of Cricklade Road, Packhorse Lane and Bentham, Purton, at 1.10pm following a report of a three vehicle collision.
“A road closure was put in place while the incident was dealt with. One woman was taken to hospital as a result of the collision.”
