A 12-year-old schoolboy has been seriously injured after being hit by a car on a quiet residential street this morning.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed at the scene in Hill Rise, Chippenham, before 10am on Tuesday.
The road remains closed at midday, with crime scene cordon in place as specialist roads policing officers attend the incident and carry out and investigation.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called to Hill Rise at around 9.40am today (19/03/19) following a collision between a car and a young cyclist.
“The boy was taken to Bristol Children’s Hospital with serious injuries and is in a critical condition.
“His family have been informed and have been taken to hospital to be with the boy.
“The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is assisting us with our enquiries.
“Hill Rise is currently closed and is likely to remain so for a number of hours while investigative work takes place.
“Anyone with information is asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting Log 69 of today (19/03/19).”
