Two passersby stopped to help a driver from his vehicle moments before it turned into a raging fireball this morning.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service sent one crew from Chippenham to the scene in Chilvester Hill at around 10.30am.
The male driver of the black Citroen C1 was uninjured in the fire thanks to two men who witnessed the fireball and assisting in the rescue before 999 crews arrived.
Police assisted with traffic control around the incident for over an hour whilst firefighters worked to battle the blaze and make the vehicle safe.
“The vehicle was made safe, and the driver was later conveyed to his home address”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.
Adding: “Many thanks to the passing two males who stopped and assisted getting the male from his vehicle moments after it had caught fire.”
The fire service says the “well alight” car was extinguished with one hose reel jet.
