A 25-year-old NHS employee has been arrested in Bath this morning following a sting by a paedophile hunter based in the West Country.
The man was confronted and then detained by Danny Catcher – a man dedicated to catching sexual predators online – outside Bath Spa train station at around 9.45am on Sunday 6 August.
Police officers rushed to the scene of the incident, where they arrested the man on suspicion of grooming offences; he was taken to Keynsham custody where he remains.
Danny Catcher said: “At approximately 9.45am, I confronted a man on Dorchester Street in Bath city centre. He was there to meet who he believed he was a 14-year-old girl who he had been talking to online.
“The 25-year-old man from Bristol was detained by myself under citizen’s arrest – without any the use of physical force – due to breaking Section 15 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
“Police arrived a short time later and he was arrested on suspicion of meeting a child following grooming and taken to Keynsham custody.
“I can confirm that the man works for the NHS, but I am unable to comment any further while an investigation by Avon and Somerset Constabulary is ongoing.”
