A narrowboat was destroyed in a blaze on the Kennet and Avon Canal in Devizes today.
Firefighters were called to the scene in the area of Caen Hill in the early hours of this morning.
On arrival, the fire crews – from Devizes and Calne – around the boat fully ablaze.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service say this incident is the third barge-related ‘accident’ they’ve attended this week alone.
With hundreds of residents living on boats, which are often being in hard-to-access locations, fire of this nature can often result in total devastation. Read more about boat safety on the fire service website.
