A number of garden items were destroyed by a group who congregated outside a museum in Swindon over the Easter bank holiday weekend.
The individuals are claimed to have held a party in the Richard Jefferies Museum garden whereby they have set fire to a children’s sandpit table and fence posts and damaged a gazebo and picnic table.
A spokesperson for the museum, located close to Coate Water on Marlborough Road, said the incident occurred at some point between Friday 2 and Monday 5 April.
“We are extremely disappointed and sad, that a group of individuals feel it is acceptable to use the museum gardens to have a party and burn items belonging to Museum”, they said.
“They have destroyed and burnt the children’s sandpit table and fence posts on a bonfire, along with destroying one of our gazebos and breaking a picnic table.
“This has been reported to the police and we will be passing our CCTV footage onto them.
“If anyone saw any groups or individuals at or near the museum that could have taken part in this over the Easter weekend please let us know.”
