Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after ‘human remains’ were found in the Forest of Dean late last night, Gloucestershire Constabulary has confirmed.
The A4136 between Coleford and Monmouth has been closed in both directions as police launch an investigation into the discovery at around 11.30pm on Tuesday.
Cordons are expected to be in place for some time as specialist forensics work at the scene, with three forensic tents erected at the entrance to Stowfield Quarry.
A woman, in her 20s, from Birmingham and a man, in his 30s, from Wolverhampton have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the investigation and remain in police custody.
