A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a crash on the A342.
Emergency services were called to the road traffic collision on the junction with Church Road, Derry Hill, shortly after 12.30pm today (25 November).
The Great Western Air Ambulance helicopter, from Bristol, landed in a field close to the scene whilst a doctor from SWIFT Medics attended in an unmarked BMW.
A black Renault Clio and a black motorcycle were involved in the collision.
The biker suffered serious leg injuries and has been taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol – the closest major trauma centre – by land ambulance.
The Renault involved in the collision could be seen parked outside The Lansdowne with significant rear nearside damage.
The biker was stabilised at the roadside for approximately one hour before being transferred into an ambulance and blue-lighted away from the scene.
Collision investigation work is expected to remain ongoing for several more hours. The road isn’t expected to reopen until around 6pm.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Officers are currently in attendance at a road traffic collision on the A342 Devizes Road at Derry Hill.
“We were called to the scene at around 12.35pm today (25/11) following a report of a collision involving a motorcyclist and a car.
“Emergency services are at the scene and there are a number of road closures in place, so we would urge motorists to avoid the area at this time.
