Dozens of firefighters are battling a blaze at a property near Devizes tonight.
More than 50 firefighters, the majority of them on-call, are currently at the scene in Stert.
The blaze involves a thatched cottage.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is asking motorists to avoid the area due to fire engines restricting access through the village.
The A342 is closed by police whilst fire crews are in attendance.
Thatch fires are usually tackled by eight fire crews over a 24-hour period.
Smoke alarms really do save lives and serve as an early fire warning. Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service recommends that occupiers have a smoke alarm on every level of their home. Smoke alarms should be tested regularly, and the batteries replaced annually or as directed in the manufacturer's instructions.
