The A4 near Chippenham is partially blocked following a crash involving a moped.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 7am this morning (Thursday).
The major route is partially blocked on the Studley/Derry Hill crossroads – with police and ambulance on scene.
Two ambulance rapid response vehicles and several police cars are in attendance at present.
The moped rider is being treated on the ground as medics await the arrival of an ambulance.
Kind members of the public stopped to provide first aid prior to the arrival of emergency crews. One is holding an umbrella over the casualty as rain falls.
Traffic is coping, with only minor delays – but this could change as it approaches rush hour.
The news comes after an elderly man died when he was struck by a vehicle at the same crossroads earlier this month. Locals are calling for a lower speed limit.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Drivers please be aware we are currently dealing with a collision on the A4 at Studley.
“There are delays in the area so please seek an alternative route if possible while this incident is dealt with. Thank you.”
UPDATE 11.30PM: The rider, a man aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital with injuries that are not described as life-changing or life-threatening, Wiltshire Police confirmed.
No arrests have been made and the road has reopened.
