A woman was attacked by a rat while dining at a McDonald’s restaurant in Wiltshire.
The incident happened at the fast-food chain on Southampton Road, Salisbury, on Monday (July 4).
The woman was bitten when she attempted to bush the rat away after it ran in through the door.
She swiftly attended the local A&E department and received a tetanus injection.
But a McDonald’s spokesperson suggested the woman had actually attempted to handle the rat when it attacked, rather than it voluntarily biting her.
They said: “Hygiene and cleanliness is of the utmost importance to us.
“This incident occurred yesterday when a rat entered through the front doors of the restaurant. It was quickly contained by members of our team, but a customer was bitten as she attempted to handle the rat.
“A sanitisation process has been undertaken and pest control experts have carried out a precautionary inspection.”
