A man and woman were arrested after police spotted a ‘suspicious’ car in Swindon.
Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning (25 January) heard how officers were on patrol when a vehicle with an obscured number plate pulled out in front of them.
Wiltshire Police financial investigator Lou Martin said the car had then taken an odd route through a car park near a nightclub, believed to be Tree, at 1am on Sunday.
Officers stopped the car and due to the smell of cannabis, they conducted a drugs search.
A selection of Viagra and Valium, and further white pills that have not yet been tested, were located in a man-bag worn by the male suspect. He was also found with two phones – one a suspected burner phone.
The officers also found white powder and white rocks in the vehicle – both are yet to be tested.
The two occupants of the car, a man and woman, were arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply.
In custody, the female suspect requested medication from the male suspect’s home address. When officers attended his home in Old Town to gather her medication, they located more white powder in a tin and approximately £10,000 in cash.
Magistrates granted the detention of the cash for six months so its derivation can be investigated.
