A man driving a ‘utility vehicle’ has died after a crash on the A4 near Avebury.
Emergency services were called to the busy route between Beckhampton and West Kennet shortly after 4pm on Wednesday (12 November).
The incident is understood to have involved a KUBOTA all-terrain utility vehicle and a car close to Silbury Hill.
Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance was scrambled, with medics working to save driver – a 26-year-old local man – for an approximately an hour.
Despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A forensic collision investigation was launched, with the road reopening at around 14 hours later – at about 4am.

“It is our sad duty to report that a 26-year-old man has died following a road traffic collision on the A4 near Silbury Hill.
“The agricultural vehicle he was driving was involved in a collision with a car shortly after 4pm yesterday (12/11).
“His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time. We would ask that their privacy is respected.
“Wiltshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam footage to contact them on 01225 694597 quoting Log number 236 of 12th November. Alternatively email [email protected].”
