Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision between two lorries, which closed Great Western Way for several hours, to come forward.
The incident happened just after 4am this morning, 5 April, on the carriageway in to Swindon, between the Blagrove and Mannington roundabouts.
For unknown reasons at this stage it’s believed an Iceland lorry (vehicle one) was stationary on the carriageway when the other truck (vehicle two) collided with it.
The male driver of vehicle two was taken to Southmead Hospital with life-threatening head injuries and is currently in a stable condition.
The male driver of the first vehicle sustained minor injuries, and the road was closed for around six hours for the collision investigation unit to carry out work.
PC Andy Lee said: “We are still investigating what happened, however I would like to speak to anyone who may have heard or seen this collision or anything suspicious, in connection with this, at this time this morning.
“If you can help in anyway please contact me or my colleagues at the Roads Policing Unit.”
Did you witness the crash? If you can help police with their enquiries please contact them on 101 or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
