A man has been left with a fractured cheekbone following an attack in Chippenham.
The 50-year-old victim was in the Black Horse Pub in New Road where he had an altercation with a woman who he didn’t know.
When the man left the pub, he was followed in to St Mary’s Street by the woman and a group of four or five men at between 2.30am and 3am on Saturday 22 July.
While in St Mary’s Street, the man was attacked by the group.
Detective Constable Rob Goacher said: “The man was knocked unconscious and sustained a fractured cheekbone as a result of the attack.
“He attended the Royal United Hospital in Bath for treatment.
“We would like to appeal to any witnesses to the incident – it happened in the early hours of Saturday morning and there would have been people in the area heading home from a night out.
“Did you see or hear anything suspicious? Please get in touch. We are carrying out a robust investigation into this nasty incident and any information from witnesses could be extremely significant.”
