A woman has been arrested after a man was stabbed to death in a Wiltshire village.

Emergency services responded to an incident at a property in Strawberry Fields, in Easterton, near Devizes, at around 8pm yesterday (Tuesday, 2 July).

A man, aged in his 40s, sustained stab wounds and was treated by medics – including a team from Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

Despite their best efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman, aged in her 50s, has been arrested suspicion of murder and taken to Melksham custody for questioning by detectives.

Wiltshire Police said those involved as “believed to be known to each other”.

A spokesperson added: “We would like to reassure residents that we do not believe there to be a wider risk to the public.

“There will be a police presence in the area overnight while our investigation continues.

“Anyone with information should call 101 and quote log number 291 of July 2.”

Strawberry Fields remains cordoned off as a crime scene as forensic work is carried out.
