A man with stab wounds was treated by medics and then arrested at Swindon railway station on Tuesday afternoon (1 July).
Police swarmed the scene at about midday after reports of an altercation involving a group of people in East Hagbourne, South Oxfordshire.
Following the disorder, where a knife was seen to be used, a 25-year-old man – who had knife injuries – boarded a train to Swindon, where he alighted.
At Swindon railway station, British Transport Police officers arrested the man on suspicion of public order offences and possession of a knife in a public place.
Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance medics raced to the station to provide urgent treatment, and the main was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by land ambulance.
He was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening or changing injuries, where he remains at this time.
A 38-year-old man from Abingdon has also been arrested on suspicion of the same offences. He remains in police custody.
Detective Inspector George Atkinson said: “I understand this altercation will be concerning but we believed it was a targeted attack with no threat to the wider public.
“We have been investigating it as a priority, with two suspects in custody, and have increased patrols in the East Hagbourne area for the next few days. Please speak to a uniformed officer if you have any concerns.
“I am appealing for any witnesses and anyone with information about this assault to come forward.
“I would also urge anyone with CCTV cameras or video doorbells in the area, or any drivers with a dash-cam who were driving in the area at the time, to please check your recordings in case you have captured anything that might help our investigation.
