A man has been hospitalised after a serious assault in Swindon.
Police and the ambulance service were called to High Street, Old Town, at around 7pm on yesterday evening (Friday, 26 April).
According to a witness, a man was attacked by a group of males on bikes between Charlotte Mews and Dammas Lane.
They claim that before receiving first aid from a local hairdresser and other members of the public as emergency services rushed to the incident.
The victim – who suffered a serious head injury – was reportedly unresponsive, but gained consciousness before paramedics arrived.
It’s understood the man was taken to Great Western Hospital for treatment.
Police cordoned the road off as a crime scene ahead of the arrival of forensics at about 9.50pm.
Forensic investigators photographed the area before swabbing blood and gathering evidence. They left the scene at about 11.15pm and the cordon was lifted.
Kioki nightclub, Domino’s and other local businesses remained open throughout the incident, but customers entered their premises via back doors.
