A man who pretended to be a police officer in text messages to his ex-girlfriend claiming his vehicle had been found with a suicide note will be sentenced next month.

In court on Monday, Tidworth-based former soldier Jordan Hunt pleaded guilty to three charges, including using threatening or abusive words or behaviour on 11 August, impersonating a police officer on 22 August and harassment of his former partner between 24 August and 19 September.

The 23-year-old, of Bulford Road, admitted pretending to be a PC Higgins in two text messages sent to his victim. In one of the messages, he told her that his blue Mercedes Benz van had been located at Shearwater Lake accompanied by a suicide note.

“What you have admitted doing is incredibly serious”, District Judge Joanna Dickens said. Adding: “There’s a possibility bearing in mind that you’ve also impersonated a police officer in really horrible circumstances in very manipulative ways, one of the options the court could do is send you to prison.”

She bailed Hunt and ordered a pre-sentence report. He’ll return to Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 23 October for sentencing. As part of his bail conditions, he is prohibited from contacting his victim directly or indirectly and must not enter Hilperton, Trowbridge.
