A man has pleaded guilty to Grevious Bodily Harm following a stabbing in Toothill last year.
Sheldon Thomas, 39, formerly of Rosebery Street but currently in prison for other matters, appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Friday in relation to the incident which occurred in Oakham Close in May 2019.
Thomas attacked his victim – a man in his 40s – at an address in Toothill at approximately 4.20pm on the day in question. The victim suffered multiple wounds to his chest, arm and leg but despite this he attempted to fight back, but Thomas fled the scene.
The victim managed to stumble to a neighbours for help and provided a description of Thomas to officers and he was later arrested.
Det Sgt Scott Anger said: “Thomas lie in wait for the victim before launching an unprovoked and violent attack which left a man with multiple stab wounds, which required treatment at the Great Western Hospital.
“Violence of this nature is completely unacceptable and this incident would have caused a huge amount of concern and upset to the victim as well as those living within the area. Nobody should be allowed to make others feel like they are living in fear and we are committed to putting violent offenders like Thomas before the courts.”
Sentencing will take place on 19 August 2020 at Swindon Crown Court.
