A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing in Swindon last night.
Police were called to a property in Castleton Road, Middleleaze, shortly before 10pm last night (13/11) by the ambulance service.
The victim, a man in his 40s, had suffered a number of stab wounds and was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. His condition is described as stable and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and is currently in police custody.
Detective Sergeant Scott Anger, from Swindon CID, said: “Although this investigation is still at a relatively early stage, our initial findings suggest that this was not a random incident, but rather an assault by someone known to the victim.
“People living in the local community will have seen a police presence at the scene overnight and throughout the day today, so I don’t want them to be alarmed by this.
“If you live in the area and saw anything suspicious yesterday evening, or if you have an information about what happened, please get in touch.
“Officers will be carrying out house-to-house enquiries, but if you have private CCTV or video doorbell footage which could assist us, then please call Swindon CID.”
