A man who was hit by a taxi in Swindon town centre on Saturday night has died as a result of his injuries, according to Swindon Hindu Temple.
Sridhar Munnaluri was rushed to the major trauma unit at Southmead Hospital in Bristol with life-threatening injuries following the collision – he sadly died a short time later.
The married father-of-two young daughters, one aged five months and the other eight years, was ‘one of the most adored local tennis club members’.
Pradeep Bhardwaj, chairman of Swindon Hindu Temple, said: “It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of one of our community members, Sridhar Munnaluri, who suffered fatal injuries last night in an accident involving a taxi in the Town Centre.
“As a community, we are trying everything possible to help the family going through these most difficult times here and the extended family in India.
“Needless to say, the whole community is in shock and very anxious as it happened right in the heart of the town. We urge the entire community to extend as much support you can to the family and stand together.”
Anyone who witnessed the collision, has information, or knows the identity of the driver of the taxi, is asked to contact Wiltshire Police by calling 101.
