A man has died after suffering a collapse at a sports facility in Swindon.

Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance was scrambled to reports of a casualty in cardiac arrest at Moredon Sporting Hub in Cheney Manor at around 11.30am on Monday (22 June).

Emergency services battled to save the man, who was aged in his 30s, at the scene.

Firefighters from Westlea were sent to the assist police and the ambulance service amid the blazing heatwave.

Despite the best efforts of those involved, he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Wiltshire Police has confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

“His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this sad time”, a force spokesperson said.

Rumours circulating on social media claiming the incident involved youths with weapons are categorically untrue.

Moredon Sporting Hub closed the centre for the rest of the day. Today (Tuesday), it remains closed.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Moredon Sporting Hub will be closed today, Tuesday 23rd June 2026.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding at this time.

“Moredon Sporting Hub will reopen on Wednesday 24th June 2026 at 0800. Any questions please contact 01793 466499.”
