A man who died by suicide on a building site in Swindon has been named locally.

Aaron Duncan was pronounced dead after emergency services were called to the Persimmon Homes site in Badbury Park at around 4pm last Thursday (14 April).

Since his tragic death, tributes to the have flowed in on social media – and many friends have urged others to reach out for help when they’re feeling suicidal.

Others have set up fundraisers to help Aaron’s family pay for his funeral, including Dale Clifton, who has so far raised more than £3,500 – despite setting out to raise £500.

“He was such a good lad to be around, always up for a laugh and was just such a nice guy to be around”, Mr Clifton wrote on JustGiving.

He added: “He was always commited to us when he played football for us and was a very good footballer! So for all that he has done for us, we are trying to raise as much money as we can to help his family give him the best send off he deserves!”

Swiss Chalet Football Club announced that they are printing warm-up t-shirts to raise awareness around men’s mental health, and will raise funds for his family at a cup final on 24 April.

Friend and Swindon boxer Luke Scott-Browne announced that he will be donating any money raised at Tank Promotions’ A Night of Prize Fighting at the MECA on 18 June to MIND, in memory of Aaron.

“Men’s mental health isn’t talked about enough and it really should be”, he commented.
