A man has been remanded in custody after a barn fire near Westbury.
Around 100 tonnes of straw was found ablaze in Quarry Lane, Bratton, on 23 January.
Firefighters spent more than 12 hours on scene battling the flames – after rescuing 50 cows from the barn. The cost of the damage is said to be upwards of £25,000.
Liam Jones, 29, of no fixed abode, was charged with arson shortly after – and at Swindon Magistrates’ Court the following day, he pleaded guilty.
“He was arrested swiftly after the fire and was remanded following good work from the Volume Crime Team”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.
Adding: “Jones appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on 24 January and has been remanded in custody for sentencing at Swindon Crown Court on February 28.”
