A man was found ‘critically injured’ after a serious incident at a house in Swindon.

Emergency services were called to an address in Nythe Road, near the Oxford Road junction, at around 7pm yesterday (Sunday, 21 July).

Both Wiltshire Air Ambulance (WAA) and Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) were in attendance as medics battled to save the life of a man in the street.

Two ambulances, two ambulance cars and six police vehicles were also parked at the scene – as officers closed the road while the inicdent was dealt with.

The WAA helicopter landed in a field off Gayton Way, with the critical care team escorted to the location in a police van. GWAAC medics arrived in a response car.

After being stablised, the injured man was rushed to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol by land ambulance. He remains there for treatment today (Monday).

Two detectives from Swindon CID are understood to have ruled out suspicious circumstances when they attended to access the scene.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident – which is described as being ‘welfare related’.
