A man has been charged after crashing a van into a parked car in Swindon.

Police were called to the dramatic smash in Lyndhurst Crescent, Park North, at approximately 9.50pm on Saturday (23 March).

A silver Vauxhall van ploughed head-on into a parked car, a white Seat, causing it significant front-end damage – likely writing it off.

The van driver proceeded to climb out of the damaged vehicle – which was resting on two wheels – and flee the scene on foot.

The suspect, 21-year-old Joshua Wetherill, of Buckland Close, was arrested and taken into custody.

He’s since been charged with drink driving and failing to stop after a road accident. He is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 9 April.
