Avon and Somerset Police say a man arrested during an armed siege in Trowbridge at the weekend has been charged with eight offences.
Robert Stamp, 34, of Goldcroft in Yeovil, has been charged with a number of offences and remanded ahead of appearing at Yeovil Magistrates Court today.
Those offences include: assault by beating, assault of an emergency worker, criminal damage, obstruct/resist an officer in execution of duty, aggravated vehicle taking, driving without due care and attention, driving a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance.
A 38-year-old man, from Trowbridge, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and obstructing police has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
Police had descended on the Longfields estate in Trowbridge at around 9am on Sunday following a domestic disorder in Somerset.
By midday the drama was over and most officers had left the area. But at this 2.30pm armed officers from both Wiltshire Police and Avon and Somerset Police arrived in Bramley Lane.
Shortly after 4pm armed officers brought two males from the property as placed them into separate police vans.
