A man has been charged with suffocating his girlfriend before a ‘campaign of stalking’.

Che Lee-Cummins was arrested by police and put before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 31 March.

The 30-year-old, of Melksham, is accused of intentionally suffocating his then-girlfriend, affecting her ability to breathe, in Chippenham on 21 March.

It’s said the relationship was ended, but on 23 March – just two days after the alleged assault – it’s claimed he damaged multiple walls and a floor belonging to the woman.

Prosecutor Natalie Cheesman said the defendant is also charged with stalking the alleged victim between 21 March and 30 March.

Che Lee-Cummins pleaded not guilty to all offences put to him. He will next appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court 7 July.

The defendant was released on bail with conditions not to contact the victim or her children directly or indirectly, and to live and sleep at his registered address in Melksham.

The court also prohibited him from entering Birds Marsh, a housing estate in Chippenham.
