A man with a bag on his head has been arrested following an incident in Swindon town centre.

Police officers were called to Canal Walk at around 10.10am today (23 June) after security guards reported a man causing a disorder in the area.

A man, who appeared to be wearing a bag on his head, was allegedly scaring elderly people while begging for money and intimidating people in shops.

The suspect – a 25-year-old man – was detained and arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.

Witnesses suspect the man may have been suffering from mental health issues.
