A man has been arrested after a woman was ‘seen in distress’ in a Swindon street.
Firearms officers and a dog handler were deployed following the incident in Kennedy Drive, Eldene, at around 12.30pm today (Saturday).
One marked and one unmarked armed response unit were seen carrying out searches in the area, alongside a dog unit vehicle and local response car.
A short time later, having made enquiries, they all raced in convoy to a block of flats in Bowleymead – where they made entry to a property.
An arrested was made at around 1.30pm, with the suspect taken to the back of a police van.
A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault, Wiltshire Police confirmed. He remains in custody for questioning.
A spokesperson for the force confirmed that they “responded to a concern for welfare after a woman had been seen in a distressed state”.
