A man has been arrested after a three-vehicle road traffic collision in Swindon.

The crash happened outside Longs Bar and The Victoria pub in Victora Road, Old Town, at around 11.20pm on Sunday night (20 February).

A British Transport Police dog unit was at the scene, alongside Wiltshire Police and South Western Ambulance Service, near the junction with Union Row.

It’s not clear what vehicles were involved in the collision – including whether it involved any of the emergency vehicles present. Wiltshire Police did not respond to our request for clarification.

The force confirmed that a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and being in possession of a controlled drug.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: “We responded to a report of a three-vehicle road traffic collision on Victoria Road, Swindon, last night (20/02) at approximately 11.20pm.

“No injuries have been reported but ambulance attended.

“A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the prescribed limit of drink and drugs and possession of a controlled drug and was taken to Gablecross Police station where he remains in custody.”
